The Golden Wheel Awards

On Tuesday evening, the 16th annual Golden Wheel Awards were being held in the Veterans building by the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition honoring those who have made San Francisco more bike-friendly (click here for their website with the winners).

It's dangerous enough in this city just to be a pedestrian or a car owner because of all the lunatics and bad drivers tearing through the streets, so riding a bicycle everywhere takes an extra dose of courage and foolhardiness. Though bike people in San Francisco can get a bit sanctimonious, at least they are trying to make life a bit better for everyone, and one fact is indisputable. The valet bike parkers at the SFBC's various events are some of the most pleasant people I've run across in San Francisco. Ride on.
